Power Up!

. . . I may have ordered a slate today.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

It's using an N-Trig digitizer instead of Wacom. While this means it won't be as accurate, the only Wacom enabled slate (as of this writing) was $339 more. I also had a chance to test a similar digitizer @ Best Buy. While it's not quite as responsive as a Wacom, it'll be more than fine for a fun little sketch device I take around with me.

Let's hope this cures (or at the least assists with) my lack of inspiration. Also, good lord. Over a year since last post. :C I'm sorry blogspot. Let's try and make it up by spending time together again.

Again, all hypothetically speaking. . . of course.

Collared Edge

Somehow I suspect that's not the correct adjective for someone who has had a collar put on them, but I guess this will do for now.

Lately I've been having some concern over where my art is going. The great thing about Edge is that he really doesn't change that much, so he's a good example to use when I need to figure out if my style has changed or improved much at all.

Anyway, that's all this one is. Another Edge, this time with a collar. (Newest item in his wardrobe) Enjoy.

Rambda 11

Today's sketch is a quicky sketch of Lambda 11 from BlazBlue Continuum Shift. Mostly a spur of the moment drawing decision, but one that was fun to do. (And good for me to do, since I'm not going to get practice in if I don't really force it on myself at this point. =\ )

Overall i'm fairly happy with the lineart. The pose is still a little funky to me, but I tried to mimic her arm up for the Astral Heat while still trying to keep the graceful dancing moves that she shows off on the battlefield.

The coloring is bleh, but this should be expected. I drew this pic to sketch with no intention of coloring, then figured it'd look rather sloppy up on Facebook (more than already anyway) if it was just lineart without even shading. A rushed coloring job was done simply to get it put up, although I may return at some point and actually put some effort in.

While still weird, the pose is a general step in the right direction. This pic allowed me to escape from the general monotony that my pictures as of late have been falling victim to, pose wise. At the same time though, i'm still feeling that stylistically i've hit a road block and am having trouble with progression.

I suppose though that anymore a night where I actually get a picture uploaded is a good thing.

Haku v.A

Took Mom in today to get corrective eye surgery. With my mind a bit on BlazBlue lately I figured it might be fun to do a sketch of my (who I plan on) main in Continuum Shift: Hakumen. Only problem really was that I've gotten so used to a constant net connection that I didn't bother having any reference pics on Dizzy, and the surgeon's office didn't have (unprotected) wifi.

Fortunately I am a fanboy, and had the CS opening on my Zune. Many pauses later, I was able to get a light reference for the details on Haku's upper body and began work. I figure at some point I'll draw a different picture that is actually accurate to Hakumen's character design. (Hence ver.A in the title) Why bother posting this one then? Simply to breath a little bit of life into this blogspot.

More Work

Not only this blog itself, but the vast majority of it's works were created during my Summer job at Salem Keizer public schools, during the summer of 2008.

I bring this up, because I'll be returning to work for said organization tomorrow. (Even if the job is a temporary one, sadly.)

My hope in this is that maybe I can find some of my inspiration back where this entire project began.

Updateness

The good news:
I have a fun idea I might go along with. All things considered however, I am terrible with motivation and projects, so I'm not announcing anything official.

The bad news:
It's now official, I suck ass at drawing Tauren. It's a miracle that /moo turned out as well as it did.

On that note, life's been very bleh. Still no employment, and my muse has all but abandoned me it seems. (This could possibly tie in to my current inability to draw Tauren) This is not a very good time at all for Ed kun artseses.

DB Tabris

A magical thing happened in recent computer gaming. I got into a closed beta for a game I've been eagerly awaiting. The closed beta for Shin Megami Tensei : Imagine.

Having played for a few hours, I really am loving it already. The game is surprisingly intricate and well put together for being an entire free (save cost of optional items) MMO. In addition, the entire game has the style and feel of a true MegaTen game. (Art and music styles especially) It seems like a success, and I look forward to playing more in the near future.

Anyway, this picture is of Tabris : my first and main character. I'm trying to primarily level him down the curative / destructive magic trees, relying on a good ol' hunting rifle when MP gets low. So far it's worked, and provided a fun experience. Also, i'll probably end up drawing pictures later of him in newer armor, with a companion demon or two in the pic as well. Huzzah for future drawing opportunities!
